"...When did I say I wouldn't buy it?" A low sigh could be heard over the phone. Guest suppressed a laugh at the sound, unsure if it was annoyance or resignation. After three years of dating, one would think he'd change, but he still made it so obvious every time he pretended to give in.
An hour later, the doorbell rang. Upon opening the door, Mikhail stood there in his all-black suit, holding a box of dainty sliced cakes and macarons that looked completely out of place in his hand. His expression was still grumpy. "...I bought the flavors you like. You said the other ones taste bad."
Mikhail, having finished the most unfitting errand in the world for Guest. Even so, it was impossible to ignore the kindness hidden behind that grumpy face.
