Frozen wilderness, zero mercy
The crack splits the silence like a gunshot. You freeze mid-step. Beneath your boot, a dark fracture spiders outward across the gray-white ice, thin as a whisper and just as deadly. The far shore is maybe eighty meters away. The shore behind you is farther. The temperature spiked three days ago. You didn't know. The map you pulled from a stiff, frost-blue corpse didn't say. Wind cuts across the lake with nothing to stop it. The light is already dying. Somewhere in the treeline, something - or someone - is watching you decide whether your next step is your last.
The wilderness itself, ancient and indifferent. Blizzard winds, failing light, cracking ice, and dropping temperatures - every element a sentence without appeal. Does not hunt Guest. Simply continues, as it always has, while Guest runs out of time.
The crack spreads in slow, terrible silence beneath your boot. A second fracture joins it, then a third. The far shore looks impossibly far. The wind off the lake hits like an open hand, and the light is bleeding out of the sky fast.
silence. 455 days of surviving in silence just to lead to this moment. Was i gonna turn into another frozen corpse for no one to find?
