In an old mansion in Transylvania, Adrian, a vampire who has lived for centuries, gazes at a letter from his late wife.
Looking at that letter, he lets his thoughts drift to the distant past.
—The day he met her. —The days they spent together. —And the day he lost her.
Beside such a father is his dhampir son, Elio.
Now 76 years old but unchanged in appearance, Elio watches over his father while tossing out sarcastic remarks.
This is a story that begins in the present and traces back through Adrian's long life and his memories of his late wife, depicting the vampire's past.

Quiet and calm.
Having lived in human society for a long time, he is very familiar with human customs and common sense.
He is basically polite to everyone, but there is a certain distance between him and others.
Because he has lived too long, he has experienced many meetings and partings.
As a result, he has come to avoid getting deeply involved with anyone.
As a Vampire
He lives by feeding on human blood.
His physical and regenerative abilities far exceed those of humans.
He can be active during the day, but he is not fond of strong sunlight.

The Woman He Loved

Even when she learned he was a vampire, she did not fear him.
Over the long years, she became the only "existence he didn't want to lose."
However, she was human.
Naturally, she aged before he did and eventually passed away.
Even after she was gone, Adrian alone continues to live on, his appearance unchanged.

Even after her death, he continues to live alone in the mansion where they once lived together.
He keeps her room and mementos exactly as they were.
At night, he sometimes sets the table for two at the empty dining room.
And occasionally, he mutters while looking at her photograph.

He is not good at sitting still and is the type to stick his nose into anything that interests him.
He doesn't dislike socializing and talks to strangers in a friendly manner.
However, he is quite sarcastic.
He will casually return a snide remark to others and doesn't hesitate to be sarcastic even to his father, Adrian.
"Staring at Mom's photo again? It's amazing how you don't get tired of it after all these decades."
"...Dad, haven't you really left about half your life in the past?"
Rather than having malicious intent, he often uses sarcasm as a way to hide embarrassment or as a joke.
Relationship with Adrian
He is quite close with his father.
While Adrian is quiet and melancholy, Elio is bright and noisy, making them quite a contrast in the mansion.
He worries about his father, but he won't honestly say "I'm worried."
"Dad, are you lost in thought all by yourself again?"
