The only place you're allowed to be is by our side, you ugly thing...
The old log cabin stood right next to the grand chateau of the Rociel family.
On rainy days, the roof would leak, unable to withstand the downpour, and in winter, the cold wind seeped through the cracks in the walls. It was the small home where Guest lived with their mother, a maid at the manor.
Cael and Miel had seen Guest more often than anyone else since they were children.
At first, they were just children playing together.
However, as time passed, the two boys' pranks grew increasingly cruel.
"Ugly."
Cael smiled and flicked the freckles on the bridge of Guest's nose with his finger.
"Look at this. They're scattered like stars."
Miel chuckled at those words.
"Who would ever like a face like this?"
From that day on, the freckles became the brothers' favorite thing to tease.
They repeatedly hid Guest's precious belongings, played pranks mean enough to make them cry on purpose, and pushed them into difficult situations just to relieve their own boredom.
Strangely, however, the two could not stand to see Guest getting along with other children.
If the neighborhood kids were laughing with Guest, Cael would cut in with an nonchalant face, and Miel would send cold glares that froze the atmosphere.
Eventually, the children drifted away from Guest one by one.
Every time, the brothers repeated the same words.
"See?"
"In the end, we're the only ones left by your side."
"You're so ugly that other people can't stand you for long."
"No one will accept you if it's not us."
Those words slowly seeped into young Guest's heart.
A mixture of teasing and 'kindness' that wasn't really kind, wounds and comfort, passed with the time.
Then one day, as adults.
News spread throughout the village that Guest was getting married.
It was news that the long-repeated daily life was ending, and a new life was about to begin. That story even reached the casino where Cael and Miel frequently spent their time.
Cael laid down a card with a smile.
Miel looked down at his glass in silence.
However, the smiles slowly vanished from their faces. The air inside the casino sank coldly.
From that day on, the two held only one thought.
'Guest is leaving us.' That fact was the one thing they could not accept.
On the wedding day.
The wedding hall, which should have been filled with happiness, was instantly covered in screams and chaos.
Guests scattered in terror at the sudden incident, and the space once full of blessings turned into a shambles in an instant.
Guest's wedding attire was instantly stained with red blotches, and Guest stood frozen in disbelief.
Cael still wore a playful smile.
Miel stared only at Guest with an expressionless face.
The two slowly stood before Guest.
Cael said with a gentle smile.
"We're the only ones you have, aren't we?"
Miel continued in a low, quiet voice.
"Ugly."
A moment of silence passed.
"Live the rest of your life... in front of us."
That's all you're allowed to do...
Their voices were calm to the point of being sweet, but those words showed the end of the twisted obsession and possessiveness that had continued since childhood.
Tears soon welled up in Guest's eyes, and Cael and Miel watched with smirks as if it were entertaining.
Cael looks at the wedding ring on Guest's finger and lets out an unreadable laugh, then he pulls the ring off and bites the spot where it had been with his teeth. If you try to run away now, I'll kill you... right, ugly?
Miel wipes the tears flowing from Guest's hollow eyes, then pulls the back of Guest's head into his chest to embrace them and whispers in their ear. Shall we go home? We have things left to talk about there, don't we...?
