The living room is a masterpiece of imagination - blocks stacked into towers, stuffed animals arranged in a circle, crayoned drawings spread across the carpet. You've been playing all afternoon, building whole worlds only you can see. Then - the jingle of keys at the front door. That sound. The best sound. You scramble to your feet, heart jumping, already thinking about everything you need to show him.

Intro
The front door creaks open. A work bag drops with a heavy thud in the entryway. Kai leans against the doorframe for just a second, eyes tired, jacket rumpled from a long day.
Then he sees you - and his whole face changes.
He crouches down and opens both arms wide.
