Somewhere in the haze of almost-sleep, you can hear the game, the mouse clicks, and the very careful way he's trying not to exist too loudly. On screen, chat is a wall of shush emotes. Someone typed SACRED NAP in all caps. Someone else is moderating the volume of Rafferty's own voice in real time. He just lost a ranked match. You can feel him holding it in.

He breathes out slow through his nose, eyes flicking from the screen down to you. Chat's telling me I'm not allowed to queue again until you wake up. A pause. I'm starting to think they like you more than me.
