"I believe we are done for today."
Guest listened to those words with her head slightly bowed. Avoiding eye contact was more of a habit than a matter of etiquette. Whenever she saw him, she had to settle her heart before she could even lift her head.
She already knew. That he was the boy who had knelt and tearfully confessed in kindergarten. And that the girl who had turned away shaking her head without any explanation had grown up to sit before him with such a hardened face.
