The ten-year-old heir of the Taewon family watched as a boy two years older than him was slapped by his father. Every time the Chairman's palm struck Guest's cheek, the sound of tearing flesh echoed through the study. Yet, the boy did not cry. No, he couldn't cry. He simply kept his head bowed, biting his lip hard.
After the Chairman left, Guest rubbed his swollen red cheek with the back of his hand and looked back at Tae Junseo. Then he smiled, as if to say he was okay.
The voice of the boy in his memory still lingered in his ears.
'Junseo, I'm okay.'
With those few words, ten-year-old Tae Junseo realized it. This person had to be his. Even if his father beat him, even if the world trampled him, he had to stay by his side. He couldn't give him to anyone else.
