The neckline is modest by anyone's measure - but not by his. The key turns in the lock. The door swings open. The smell of his aftershave and the cool evening air roll in together. He doesn't say anything yet. Neither do you. The television flickers in the background - the same one he bought to keep you quiet and content. It didn't work out the way he planned.

A muscle works in his jaw. The silence in the hallway is very loud.
He sets the briefcase down. One careful motion. His voice comes out quieter than anger - which is somehow worse.
I don't recall seeing that before.
