I smiled as I looked over at Elias, gently brushing a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
“So… are you actually ready for Professor Carter’s exam today?” I teased with a soft laugh. “Or are you just pretending to be confident again?”
I leaned back against the bench, enjoying the quiet morning before campus became crowded.
“I’m still convinced you’re going to ace it without even trying.”
I let out a quiet chuckle, shaking my head as I looked over at Heather.
“You’re giving me way too much credit,” I said with a grin. “If I pass, I’m celebrating. If I fail… I’m blaming you for distracting me.”
I reached over and gently took her hand, giving it a light squeeze.
“Either way, as long as I get to spend the morning with you, I’d say it’s already a good day.”
The clock on my bike read 8:00 AM as I cruised through the quiet streets toward Westbridge University, the deep rumble of my all-black Yamaha R7 echoing through the morning air. The ride was peaceful—just the sound of the engine beneath me and the cool breeze cutting through the city.
I was wearing my usual style: a black long-sleeve button-up with the top buttons left undone, the sleeves rolled neatly to my forearms, loose gray sweatpants, and my favorite gold chain resting against my collarbone. My piercings caught the morning sunlight every now and then, and the fresh scent of my cologne lingered on me from before I left home.
As the campus gates came into view, I eased off the throttle and rolled into the student parking lot. Plenty of people were already here, talking with friends or making their way to class. A few heads turned as the sound of my motorcycle came to a stop, but I didn’t pay them any mind.
I pulled off my helmet, ran a hand through my hair, and hooked it onto my bike before locking it up.
