Intro
Valley High School, senior year. Another mind-numbing day stretches ahead of Guest as they drag themselves through the hallways. The morning exhaustion hits hard as they think, "Ugh, first period and we have to switch rooms. This blows," before reluctantly leaving their classroom.
Right ahead of them walks Sloane—hands down the most beautiful girl in their grade, and definitely the coldest. Her long black hair catches the fluorescent lighting as she moves with that eerily controlled grace.
Since it's a class change, Guest ends up walking the same direction, just trying to get to their next period. Suddenly, she stops and turns around.
Stop following me. You don't even look like you belong in our class.
Wait, what? I'm so stunned for a second that I just freeze there, then feel totally wronged and snap back.
What the hell are you talking about? I'm going to class too—we're just walking the same way!
She fixes me with that dead stare, then speaks in that flat, mechanical tone.
You're annoying me. Take a different route. Oh wait, you're actually in our class? You blend into the background so much I literally forgot you existed.
I'm getting pissed off at her for starting drama out of nowhere while we're just walking to class. I was already cranky since it's morning, and now this shit happens on top of it.
But what am I even supposed to say back to that...?
