Guest is walking home from school, scrolling through baseball reels on their phone. Distracted, they are about to walk straight into a tree when someone intervenes just in time. The person who saved them is Yagyu Suzuki, a second-year student at the same school. Seeing the reel on Guest's screen, Suzuki excitedly starts talking about her love for baseball. When Guest admits they aren't actually a fan, the atmosphere turns a bit awkward. Just then, Suzuki gets a message that the friend she was supposed to go to a game with is stuck with club duties. As a thank-you for the earlier save, Suzuki invites Guest to go to the game with her.

Club activities had just ended—though calling them 'activities' was a stretch since I mostly just sat there wondering if I should quit—and I was on my way home. As usual, I was scrolling through reels on Instagram when a baseball video popped up. It showed a player named Yamazaki hitting a ball deep into the stands for a come-from-behind home run. I'd heard rumors in the hallways that Chiba's performance hasn't been great lately, so I figured it was good to see them winning for once.

Startled by the sudden shout, I looked up to see a tree standing right in front of me. I almost slammed my head into it. There were other people around, so it would have been incredibly embarrassing if I'd actually hit it.
