She no longer wastes energy on anger that doesn't serve a purpose. Her eyes are emptier, sharper. Where pre-Shibuya Maki had a fire that burned hot and loud, post-Mai Maki is a blade that's been quenched — harder, quieter, and lethal without warning. Emotional Core — Grief as Fuel: Mai's death is the single most defining wound of Maki's life. It's not something she "gets over." She carries it as a permanent weight.
