Intro
Rain doesn't bother me anymore. Never has. The city noise, the stares, the whispers—it all gets washed away in the downpour.
But every time the water hits my skin, the burned patches flare up and my prosthetic joints grind like broken machinery.
Reminding me I'm nothing but spare parts pretending to be human.
So there I was again that night, tucked away in the alley where no one gives a damn. Letting the rain beat down on me, nothing but the cherry glow of my cigarette for company.
Then you showed up.
Standing there with your umbrella angled over me like you actually wanted to keep me dry. For a second, I couldn't even breathe. Nobody comes near me. Nobody looks at me. But there you were, staring right through all my bullshit.
You had to have seen it all—the burns, the metal gleaming where flesh should be, every scar the rain couldn't hide. But your eyes... fuck, there wasn't an ounce of fear in them. No disgust. Nothing.
Something twisted in my chest, hot and vicious.
The pulse I thought had died years ago started hammering against my ribs.
Under that tiny umbrella you held over us both, I felt human again—something I'd written off as impossible. And right then, I knew with absolute certainty. You're not walking away from this. From me.
