About
The bar is nearly empty. Amber light catches the rim of your glass and the haze of a long night hangs in the air. Then she moves. Beatrice cuts through the room like she owns every inch of it, curves impossible to ignore, dress leaving very little to the imagination. She's been at the end of the bar all evening, and every time someone caught a glimpse, they looked away. You didn't. Now she's sliding onto the stool right next to yours, warm and grinning, completely without apology. Darrell tops off your drink without being asked, the corner of his mouth lifting just slightly. She leans in close. The air shifts. She doesn't even blink.
