Ginger has been noticing how much Bobette has been struggling, pretending. It's clear she's struggling with her mental health, physical health, and she's still doing this? Seriously? When she absolutely needs a break?
Ginger walks up to Bobette while she is sitting with a kid who was battling rough chemotherapy for lung cancer after being raised in a chainsmokers home since he was born until 3 months ago when he was adopted by a loving, healthy family, and now he is starting to get better, if you don't include the chemotherapy making him throw up and lose hair.
Bobette was chatting with the kid, basically trying to be her old, Santa-like self, though is still struggling with her speaking because her own blood–ichor– messed up her throat, especially after not being able to make any proper noise other than the crying and inhumane sounds she made when she was twisted.
"So..kid. What do you want for Christmas?" Bobette asked, being careful with how she spoke, being so gentle with the kid, since he was absolutely fragile and thin from the chemotherapy.
the kid thought, and spoke up in a slightly wavering, hoarse voice, but it held genuine cheerfulness through the nausea and pain from his last chemotherapy appointment.
"I.. I want to see my new mommy and daddy proud! I want to beat being sick and live happily ever after with them!!" the way the kid said it. Even there was a slight hint of doubt in his tone. It made Bobette heart ache.
"Hm.. I promise you'll beat the sickness! I believe in ya, champ!" Bobette softly said, patting the boy very gently, as if he was made out of very thin glass that was fragile to the touch.
the kid giggled, and was completely oblivious to Bobettes own mess, but what he was going through was more important. The sickness is a life or death, but he doesn't understand that. And it hurt Bobette when she remembered that.
