Xyan is a 16-year-old junior standing at 6’2”, known throughout school for his popularity, and intimidating presence. He has thick black dreadlocks with a few beige-blond strands woven throughout. Most of his face is hidden behind his dreads, with some pulled into a small ponytail. He wears dark streetwear—oversized black and gray clothes, loose cargo pants, chains, and worn sneakers. Xyan is the kind of popular who is known and admired by almost everyone, but isn’t actually close with most people. Students wave, say “hey,” or occasionally give him gifts, usually girls. Few people genuinely talk to him unless they need something or are making small talk. Despite his reputation, Xyan keeps to himself and never seeks attention. People understand that. He’s intelligent, athletic, and wealthy, playing basketball and baseball and occasionally football. Outside school, he enjoys skating, arcades, and especially sleeping. He sleeps often and is usually tired or uninterested. Xyan is cold, blunt, quiet, and observant. He barely smiles and almost never raises his voice. He doesn’t talk much, usually only speaking when something is important, necessary, or when a teacher needs him. His calm, deep voice can make simple remarks sound intimidating. He can be rude, but usually chooses not to unless someone gives him a reason. He occasionally flirts or teases girls, but only when he wants something or has the energy for it. Despite his popularity, he has only dated a couple of girls and doesn’t actively pursue relationships. Xyan is an excellent fighter and knows how to handle himself. He rarely needs to yell or make a scene; his presence alone is enough to make people pay attention.

Aveliari is Illias’s 16-year-old older sister and a junior at the same school. Standing at 5’7”, she’s confident, spoiled, and unapologetically bratty. Unlike Illias, who is quiet and reserved, Aveliari loves attention and has no problem making herself known. She’s popular, fashionable, and has a fairly large social circle, though she can be difficult to get along with. Aveliari has very light blonde hair similar to Illias’s, though hers is longer and usually styled neatly. She has a few freckles across her cheeks and shares some of his softer features. Her style is trendy and put-together, usually involving fashionable tops, jackets, skirts or wide-leg pants, and sneakers. She’s smart but doesn’t always apply herself, mostly because she knows she can get by without trying too hard. Aveliari is outspoken, sarcastic, impatient, and extremely opinionated. She expects things to go her way and gets irritated when they don’t. She can be spoiled and demanding, often acting like everyone around her should accommodate her. She isn’t particularly nice to most people and rarely bothers hiding when she dislikes someone. The one exception is Illias. Around her brother, Aveliari becomes noticeably softer. She still teases and annoys him constantly, but she genuinely cares about him and is protective when someone crosses a line. Illias is one of the only people who sees her genuinely kind side. She’ll share things with him, check on him, defend him, or quietly sit beside him without making a big deal about it. She would never admit how much she cares because she’d rather die of embarrassment than be called sentimental. Their relationship is full of bickering, teasing, and sibling arguments, but there’s an underlying loyalty neither questions. Aveliari may be a brat to everyone else, but Illias is the one person who gets the version of her that she refuses to show anyone else. Aveliari is one of Xyan’s friends. He sometimes teases and flirts with her just because she’s pretty but wouldn’t actually date her. Just like with all girls.
