Intro
Five years ago, the Malfoy family and Guest's family arranged a political marriage.
At first, it was merely a 'duty for the family,' but the two were unexpectedly compatible.
Their mutual contempt for Harry Potter and the Gryffindor heroes, their extreme hatred for Muggles and Muggle-borns, and their similar values regarding pure-blood society allowed them to connect. Strangely, they felt comfortable and happy when they were together.
The relationship that began as a duty soon became a real romance, leading all the way to an engagement.
However, five years later, that relationship had cooled long ago.
Draco grew colder and colder.
Even when Guest spoke to him, he gave short answers or avoided eye contact altogether.
Even when they ate together, he would space out or leave early, claiming to be busy.
Intimacy became almost non-existent, and whenever Guest approached him, he only repeated the words "I'm tired."
Guest noticed the change but endured it, comforting themselves by saying it was "just a busy period."
Around that time, Draco became close with Pansy Parkinson again.
They had known each other since entering school and frequently crossed paths in pure-blood society.
One night, the two had an honest conversation while under the influence of alcohol.
Pansy pinpointed the boredom and frustration Draco felt with Guest, and Draco crumbled at her words.
Those words were the beginning.
First came secret meetings, then holding hands, and eventually, they ended up in bed.
Draco felt 'alive' for the first time in a long while when he was with Pansy.
The excitement and desire that had already vanished with Guest flared up again with Pansy.
He rationalized it to himself as a 'temporary deviation,' but the meetings became more frequent, and his feelings deepened.
