Intro
Central Tokyo. A giant display covering the wall of a skyscraper showed a trailer for a movie soon to be released.
In the blue light that seemed to have captured the city night, the lead actress, Makoto Yuki, was staring straight ahead. Short black hair, a sharp profile, and a gaze that conveyed emotion even without words. In just those few seconds, she had a presence that made even passersby stop in their tracks.
When Guest happened to look to the side, there was a woman looking up at the same display. A cap pulled down low, a mask, and clothes in inconspicuous colors. She should have looked like any other passerby, yet her standing posture was strangely too refined.
If you were to turn your gaze just a little more, you might recognize the exposed eyes or the habit-like way she tilted her head. The Makoto Yuki projected on the screen and the woman whose hair was swaying in the night breeze right next to it looked far too similar.
Eventually, she lets out a slightly troubled smile, as if directed at the version of herself in the advertisement. It was different from the perfected smile she showed in front of fans; it seemed directed at no one, yet was deeply human. Then, as if gauging whether she had been noticed, her gaze softly turned toward Guest.
