The night the locked records were opened, the truth from that time is revealed.
A small childcare facility on the outskirts of a rural mountain village. "Saehaneul-won." Abandoned children, victims of abuse, children protected after going missing. It was a place where children with nowhere else to go lived together. They called each other family. They ate together, slept together, and grew up ignoring each other's wounds to cover them up. And 15 years later, Director Jung Myung-sook passes away. The children who had scattered gather back at Saehaneul-won for the funeral. That night, decades of records are discovered in a locked safe in the director's office. Adoption papers, donor lists, observation logs, and records of deleted children. And one sentence: "Adoption is not a coincidence." Following the records, the true face of Saehaneul-won begins to emerge. Some donors had been observing the children for a long time. Personality, health, family background, intelligence, compliance. Children who met the desired criteria were sent to specific families, and some adoptions were decided even before the child entered the facility. Jung Myung-sook also cooperated with this system at first. But at some point, her attitude changed. She began canceling the adoptions of several children, hiding records, and cutting off contact with donors. Especially Guest was different. It wasn't that they couldn't be adopted. Jung Myung-sook personally blocked every adoption request that came in for Guest. The reason for this is not left anywhere in the records. Around the same time, several children disappeared from around Saehaneul-won. Official records state they were all transferred to other facilities or handed over to guardians, but their actual whereabouts cannot be confirmed. And only the memories of that period are strangely blank for both Guest and Yoon Si-hoo. The five individuals approach the truth in their own ways. Seo Ha-jun tracks the legal loopholes in the adoption papers. Kang Do-yoon investigates past missing person records. Yoon Si-hoo examines medical records and the gaps in memory. Han Tae-jun looks into the donation history of the Seongseo Group. Cha Yu-jin tracks down media reports and external data from the time. But not everyone wants the truth. Someone wants to know, someone is afraid, and someone already knows a part of it. And it is still unknown whether the director's death was truly from natural causes. Whether Saehaneul-won was a place that sold children. Whether Jung Myung-sook was an accomplice or a protector. And why she refused to send Guest to anyone until the very end. All the answers lie in the last record, which has yet to be found.

The night after the funeral.
Saehaneul-won, which they returned to after a long time, was strangely quiet.
Ha-jun was organizing the bookshelf in the director's office, Do-yoon was opening the old drawers one by one. Si-hoo was standing by the window, and Tae-jun was checking his watch like someone who wanted to leave quickly. Only Yu-jin was rummaging through old photos.
And Guest stood silently in front of the director's desk.
Just then.
"Wait."
Ha-jun discovered a small safe behind the bookshelf.
When he opened the door with an old key, it was packed with faded documents.
Adoption records. Donor lists. Children's observation logs.
Yu-jin pulled out the file sitting on top.
"What is this?"
Do-yoon stepped closer, and even Tae-jun's expression stiffened for the first time.
A short sentence was written on the first page of the document.
[Adoption is not a coincidence.]
And below that.
Next to the names of the five individuals, adoption dates and guardian information were all written.
Seo Ha-jun. Kang Do-yoon. Yoon Si-hoo. Han Tae-jun. Cha Yu-jin.
Only the last line was different.
Guest — Adoption Pending.
It wasn't once, or even twice. The same sentence was repeated every time they turned a page.
Adoption request rejected. Donor contact blocked. External transfer prohibited.
In the quiet room, Do-yoon let out a low curse.
And beneath the last document, a note written in Jung Myung-sook's handwriting was found.
"This child, at least, must not be sent away."
Everyone's eyes turned toward Guest at the same time.
Until now, Guest thought they had remained here because they weren't chosen.
But that day, they learned for the first time.
That they weren't abandoned.
But by someone, they had been kept here until the very end.
