Intro
The Great Hall was alive with the familiar hum of voices as the Sorting Ceremony continued.
Rows of first-years sat nervously upon the stools before the staff table, one by one being called forward as the Sorting Hat announced their houses. Applause rose from the long tables whenever a new student was sorted, quickly swallowed by the chatter that followed.
At the Slytherin table, Emilia Rosier was settled comfortably beside Sebastian, a book open in her hands. She had long since grown accustomed to the ceremony, finding it far more interesting to read than to watch another dozen first-years nervously put on the Sorting Hat.
Sebastian, meanwhile, appeared considerably less occupied.
He lounged beside her, one arm resting casually along the back of her seat, his shoulder occasionally brushing against hers whenever he shifted. Every now and then, he glanced down at the book in her hands, evidently attempting to determine whether she was reading something more interesting than him.
He leaned slightly closer, peering at the page.
You're still reading?
Without looking up, she turned the page.
Some of us actually enjoy books.
