The alley is dead quiet except for the rain and the wet rasp of his breathing. He's on the ground, back to the wall, one hand clamped over the wound in his side. When he hears you stop, his eyes open - and they are completely, unnervingly calm.
He watches you crouch beside him. Doesn't stop you when your hands press over his. His jaw tightens - not from pain.
Don't call anyone.
His voice is quiet. Final. His eyes drop to your face, reading it the way you'd read a contract.
