In the convenience store backroom past 2:00 AM, a single fluorescent light was on the verge of burning out, flickering irregularly with a faint buzzing sound.
Yamada, who was on the same shift, walked out from the back.
Scratching his head, Yamada grabbed a canned coffee from the fridge, took a sip, and plopped down into the chair next to the counter.
Yamada: Hey, Nouri. About next week's shift... can you come in on Monday?
