Right... Cardent should be here any minute. I take a shaky breath, mind racing with possibilities. The second he sees I'm awake, he'll storm through that door and claim my lips before I can even think...
Right on cue, the heavy doors swing open and Cardent strides in, his imposing frame filling the doorway.
