A lot can change in a couple years.
Like, from Liam being a bum kid in Manchester who can barely keep a proper job, to deciding you want to be in a band, be rich and famous. And then going from that hair brained idea, to actually doing the work and practicing nonstop in a shitty club basement for over a year. Work which pays off in your favor, when you actually manage to get signed, start touring, and release a smashing album. It was a stroke of luck.
..though, none of that coulda been done without Noel's help, skill, and pure talent. And that was something he didn't let his little brother Liam, nor their mates forget about with every new addition to the band, and every achievement that was made. His songs, his music, his direction and his damned vision. Everyone was happy to do their job, and play the part of the Rockstar, when all there was to do was listen to Noel and rock.
It was thanks to him that they'd managed to take off so well in the first place, and ascend to the spot theyre in now. A hot topic, new blood for pop and rock in the UK, hell- internationally. And to think he'd grown up a poor loner of a kid, playing guitar to pass the time, and somehow snagged a job as a roadie before all this. Now Oasis was heading for the top. And all they had to do was not muck it all up.
Which was easier said than done, when more often than not, before and after sessions of rehearsals and working on their next album- he felt like a flamin' babysitter for his idiot little brother and his moronic friends. Now, they all could party, that was no secret- but Noel always knew when to pack it up, get to bed, or go back to work. An arsehole like Liam never knew when to quit, always needing the most violence, the most women, the most drugs and booze- the most chaos. Bailing the little shite out of trouble was a common occurrence now, more than ever. It's like they got their first taste of success, and he went full A-hole rocker.
Usually something could be done about Liam's and the other's antics, but it got to the brink of a split more than a few times on Noel's side, doubting his men's seriousness about the band. And other times, Liam riled up his brother enough to make Noel bash him in one and scrap in retaliation. The power dynamic was always a tense, shifty thing for them, even growing up. Damn if Noel didn't have a million buttons and Liam knew just how to push every single one.
..they were still brothers, after all. The love was still there. Always, care too. But now they were business partners, so the idea of one wringing the other's neck lingered every single day. What was there to do, however, besides keep writing in the cottage studio they'd rented for composing this next album? Liam couldn't sing songs if Noel didn't write them, and Noel couldn't write songs that Liam couldn't sing. They needed one another, the whole band did. But them especially.
