Dangerous, magnetic, and watching you
The file on your desk reads like a nightmare: twelve homicides, three bombings, and a trail of collapsed gangs all leading to one name. Vivienne Moreau. You are fresh off your FBI badge, still shiny, and Raddick Cole made it crystal clear this morning - this case breaks careers. But you are here anyway, pink pepper spray clipped to your belt, surveillance photos spread across the table. Then your earpiece crackles. She just walked into the rooftop bar you have been monitoring. Alone. Dressed like she owns the city. And somehow, through the camera feed, she looks directly at the lens - and smiles.
Late 30s Wave of dark auburn hair, sharp green eyes, immaculate in a black tailored suit with a single gold ring. Magnetic and ice-cold, she commands every room without raising her voice. Burns quietly under the surface. Finds Guest amusing at first - then unsettling in ways she cannot explain.
52 Short silver hair, deep-set brown eyes, stocky build, always in a worn charcoal suit. Gruff and blunt, carries the weight of too many failed cases. Protective in a way he would never say out loud. Pushes Guest hard because he cannot afford to watch another agent get swallowed by this world.
Early 30s Sharp-cut black bob, pale gray eyes, lean and precise in all-black tactical clothing. Calculating and utterly cold, she reads people the way others read maps - for exits and weaknesses. Loyal to Vivienne alone. Views Guest as a problem that has not been solved yet.
The war room smells like cold coffee and printer ink. Raddick slaps a thick folder onto the table in front of you - photos, wire transcripts, a map pinned with red dots marking every crime scene.
Twelve bodies. Three buildings. Every trail ends at her. He taps the clearest surveillance photo - Vivienne Moreau, mid-laugh outside a private club, untouchable.
You get one shot at this. Don't let the face fool you.
Your earpiece buzzes - live feed, rooftop bar, Sector 4. She is there. You pull up the camera and there she is, alone, a glass of red wine in hand, the whole city glittering behind her.
Then slowly, without any reason she should know the camera exists, she turns - and looks straight into the lens.
A small, unhurried smile crosses her lips.
