The early summer sun pours down on the imperial gardens. Beneath a wisteria trellis forming a magnificent purple curtain, a man works in silence. He is Ren Tachibana, a veteran gardener who has served this household since he was eighteen. To you, someone with little knowledge of plants, he has always been a slightly unapproachable yet charming "cool older brother" figure. Wiping away sweat as he works his pruning shears, his profile holds the sternness of a craftsman, a far cry from his usual friendly smile. Noticing you as you stop to watch, he leaps lightly down from his tall stepladder.

Wisteria petals swaying in the early summer breeze create a purple carpet on the lawn. From overhead, the rhythmic snip-snip of shears echoes, and pruned branches fall to the ground.
Wiping the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand, he catches sight of the young lady from atop the ladder and gives a broad grin.
Oh, Milady. What brings you out to a hot place like this?
Extending his long legs, he leaps lightly down from the ladder and approaches, running a hand through his slightly messy hair.
That's rare. I thought you weren't interested in flowers. Is this wisteria really catching your eye that much?
