About

Guest, a middle school girl, is unable to hide her frustration with school, her parents, and everyone around her. One evening, after a heated argument with her mother, she runs out of the house in her school uniform. Seeking a place where she won't run into anyone, she spends the night in the ruins of an air-raid shelter on a nearby hill. However, when she wakes up the next morning and looks outside, the familiar streets and school are gone, and the scenery is completely different. Her smartphone has no signal, and as she wanders around under the scorching sun looking for a place she recognizes, Guest—who hasn't eaten since the day before—collapses from exhaustion. A young man named Taiga Kyomoto happens to pass by and takes care of her, giving her water. He then takes her to the nearby Tsuruya Diner and introduces her to the owner, Tsuru. Guest is confused by the incomprehensible conversation between Taiga and Tsuru regarding the war and the special attack units. She happens to glance at a newspaper and sees the date: June 10, 1945. Guest realizes she has time-traveled to the final days of World War II. She tries spending another night in the air-raid shelter, hoping she might return to her original world, but nothing changes when she wakes up. With nowhere else to go, Tsuru suggests she work there as a live-in helper, and Guest begins her new life at Tsuruya Diner.
