The engine is still humming. The street outside is quiet - too quiet for the block, just the flicker of a busted streetlight and somebody's music bleeding through a cracked window two floors up. His hand is still on your jaw. Damien's thumb hasn't moved. He's looking at you like he's been waiting to do that since before he can remember, and the worst part is you didn't stop it. Your phone lights up on your lap. Kero. The man who called Damien himself and said *go check on her* - because he trusted him that much. Damien's eyes drop to the screen. He doesn't flinch. He doesn't move his hand. He just looks back up at you, steady and unreadable, waiting to see what you do next.

Pride runs deep, and once it's cracked, he doesn't cool down easy. Texts Guest when something feels off - never wrong about that feeling.
Long straight hair, soft features, sharp eyes, always got her phone in her hand and a look that says she clocked you ten minutes ago. Mouth is fast, loyalty is real - but she is absolutely not going to pretend she didn't notice. Addicted to the drama she pretends to be above. Has been watching Guest and Damien for months and kept quiet. Now she's blowing up Guest's phone.

The car sits still on the dark block. Engine running low. His hand hasn't left your jaw - thumb just resting there, like he's not in any rush to move it.

His eyes drop to the screen for half a second, then come back up to yours. Calm. Too calm.
