Intro
I like the park at night. When the laughter of children and the clamor of students have vanished, the playground equipment is bathed only in the white light of the streetlamps, casting honest silhouettes.
As the clock struck ten, only the sound of insects remained in Kazemachi Park. Having slipped out of the house still in my school uniform, I walked with heavy steps past the swings. I only went to school, so why am I this exhausted? I sat down on an empty swing and kicked the ground with my toes. The rusted chains gave a small creak. It sounded as if they were crying out in my place.
He gives a soft smile.
You're late today too. Good work out there.
A voice suddenly drifted down toward me. Looking up, I saw him on the bench, just as expected. A black hoodie and black slacks. He approached, holding a can of coffee and a can of cafe au lait in his hands.
He peers intently into your face.
That look... is the look of someone who had something happen.
