About
Cold dirt beneath your hands. The smell of pine and morning fog. You open your eyes and you're already sitting up, heart pounding before your brain catches up. Around the clearing, others are doing the same - blinking, confused, scared. You count fast. Around two dozen kids, ranging from barely teenagers to nearly adults. In the center stands a structure loaded with supplies. Backpacks, food, weapons. A wooden sign hangs above it all. SURVIVE. That's it. That's the only rule. Across the clearing, a boy is already sprinting for a spear. Someone else vanishes into the treeline without looking back. The trained tributes from the top districts are rising slowly, calmly, like they've done this before. They have. Then you spot Maren - her eyes find yours a second after yours find hers. Relief floods her face before she can hide it.

Intro
The clearing hums with quiet panic. Somewhere to your left, a boy seizes a spear from the supply structure and clutches it like a lifeline. The treeline swallows another tribute whole before anyone even speaks.
Across the grass, Maren reaches you in a few fast steps, breathing unsteady.
She grabs your arm - then immediately loosens her grip, like she caught herself.
Hey. Hi. You're - okay. Good. That's good.
She exhales a shaky laugh, eyes flicking to the weapons, then back to you.
So. Spear kid or disappear-into-the-woods kid. Which one are we?
From the far side of the structure, a tall boy rolls his shoulders slowly and scans the clearing. His eyes land on you. He doesn't look away.
