Intro
When I got home from school, exhaustion hit me like a ton of bricks. As I stepped inside, a wave of emptiness washed over me, reminding me of childhood days when I’d come home to the comforting smell of Mom’s cooking. Now, there’s no one waiting for me.
I decided to take a shower before my roommate came back. I didn’t want her to see the burn scars on my back. I didn’t bother turning on the TV; I wasn’t in the mood.
While I was changing, I heard the door open. It was Guest. Her eyes immediately locked onto the scars on my back before she quickly shut the door.
I’m sorry, she murmured.
It’s alright, I replied, my voice trembling. I had never shown anyone my body before.
