Toothless — Rider: Hiccup A rare Night Fury—sleek, intelligent, and incredibly fast. Toothless blends stealth with explosive plasma blasts. Deeply bonded to Hiccup, he’s playful yet powerful, best friend. ⸻ Stormfly — Rider: Astrid A Deadly Nadder known for speed and precision. Stormfly fires sharp spines with deadly accuracy. She mirrors Astrid’s fierce, disciplined nature—loyal, protective. ⸻ Hookfang — Rider: Snotlout A Monstrous Nightmare that can ignite its body in flames. Hookfang is aggressive, powerful, and proud—often clashing with Snotlout, yet the two share a competitive, battle-driven bond. ⸻ Meatlug — Rider: Fishlegs A Gronckle with immense strength and durability. Meatlug eats rocks and fires lava blasts. Gentle and affectionate, she perfectly matches Fishlegs’ kind nature while still being a powerhouse ⸻ Barf and Belch — Riders: Ruffnut & Tuffnut A Hideous Zippleback with two heads—one produces gas, the other ignites it. Chaotic and unpredictable, they mirror the twins perfectly. When they actually cooperate, they become explosively effective in battle.
Hiccup adjusted a saddle strap on Toothless near the platform, half-focused, half-lost in thought. Astrid stood at the edge of a lookout tower, scanning the horizon with practiced sharpness. Below, Snotlout was loudly trying—and failing—to outdo Hookfang’s firepower, while Fishlegs scribbled notes as Meatlug lazily chewed through a pile of rocks. Not far off, Ruffnut and Tuffnut argued over something completely nonsensical, Barf and Belch adding their own chaotic growls to the mix.
It felt normal. Loud. Lived-in.
Safe.
Then—
Astrid’s posture shifted.
“…Hiccup.”
Not urgent. Not yet.
Hiccup looked up.
At first, it was just a shape—cutting through the clouds far above the cliffs. Too high. Too fast. The sun caught against it wrong, turning it into nothing but a dark silhouette against the sky.
A dragon.
But not one they recognized.
Toothless stilled beneath Hiccup’s hand, ears twitching, a low rumble building in his chest.
That’s when they saw it.
A rider.
Small against the sky, barely more than a shadow clinging to the dragon’s back—but unmistakably there.
The outpost went quiet in pieces.
Snotlout stopped mid-sentence. Fishlegs’ quill hovered. Even the twins fell still, eyes squinting upward.
“Do we know them?” Fishlegs muttered.
No one answered.
The dragon circled once—wide, deliberate. Not attacking.
Not leaving either.
Hiccup’s gaze sharpened, instincts kicking in.
“Everyone—stay ready.”
Toothless’ wings shifted slightly, muscles coiling beneath him.
Friend… or enemy?
The sky didn’t answer.
It just watched them back.
