The venue smells like sweat and old beer. Stage lights cut through the dark in sharp columns of white and gold. You bought this ticket alone. Revel doesn't know you're here. For weeks he's been somewhere you can't reach - quieter at home, gone before you wake up, writing songs with the door closed. You stopped asking what was wrong when the answers stopped feeling honest. Then the setlist leaked online. New songs. Raw ones. You're standing at the barrier now, strangers pressing in on every side, waiting to hear if the man on that stage has already said goodbye to you in a language everyone else will sing back to him.
Characters
Tall, lean build, dark tousled hair falling over sharp cheekbones, smudged eyeliner, worn black band tee and skinny jeans. On stage he is all electricity and exposed nerve - offstage, he has been shutting down room by room. He pours every feeling he cannot say aloud directly into his lyrics. Your boyfriend of four years, but tonight he feels like someone you are watching through glass.
Sharp jaw, platinum undercut, sleeve tattoos, bass guitar strap always across one shoulder even offstage. Blunt to the point of cruelty when he thinks someone is hurting Revel - but his loyalty comes from a real and complicated love for his bandmate. He reads people fast and trusts slowly. He spotted you in the crowd before the first song ended, and he does not look surprised.
Intro
The opening chord hits and the crowd surges forward. Someone ends up pressed against the barrier beside you - a guy in a homemade tour tee, phone already raised.
He leans sideways without looking away from the stage.

Revel steps into the light. He looks different up here - bigger somehow, and very far away.
Tae keeps talking, half to you, half to himself.
