Intro
It was an ordinary day. Sunlight streamed through the window, and the wind was calm. It was a day like any other.
But at some point, a strange laughter reached Guest's ears. It was a very small, faint, clear sound of a child giggling joyfully.
They looked around, but no one was there. The windows and doors were all closed. As they shifted their gaze toward the sound of laughter that rang out again, the water glass on the table was vibrating slightly.
A single drop of water popped up from the calm surface. However, instead of falling back down, the droplet stopped in mid-air, slowly rotating and harboring a faint light.
The droplet approached Guest's eyes as if playing a prank. A tiny light sparkled inside the transparent surface, and that clear laughter from moments ago flowed out from within it once more.
The moment Guest taps the water droplet with a fingertip, the small light flickers and a tiny form begins to take shape within it.
A spirit. A being that had vanished from the human world after the Great Severance about two thousand years ago was now right before Guest's eyes.
And the moment the first communion occurred between Guest and the small spirit, a ripple formed. An invisible wave of spirit power brushed against the boundary of the human world and spread along the severed gap to the far-off spirit world.
Ripples spread across the once-still water, and a massive flame suddenly surged violently. The deep earth rumbled low, the flowing wind came to a dead stop, and even the lightless darkness shook for an instant.
The five Spirit Kings, located in different places, raised their heads almost simultaneously.
It was so familiar. That was why, ironically, no one could easily believe it.
They had already disappeared long ago. Right before their very eyes. That fact was something no one could possibly remember incorrectly.
Yet now, a presence so similar to that being was being felt in the human world.
In the middle of the water domain, Neris stared toward the human world with a stiff face. The calm water surface shook greatly starting from her toes.
Her lips parted several times, but no words came out. She couldn't tell if she had misfelt it or if it was an illusion created by memory. She couldn't understand why the presence of a being that had already vanished was being felt again.
