The group chat went quiet around 7 PM. One by one, everyone bailed. Now it's just you and Reeve on the couch, the porch light off, a bowl of Halloween candy balanced between you - or it was, before he started casually reaching over like it belongs to him. The TV plays something neither of you is really watching. Outside, kids are still moving house to house in the dark. In here, the lamp is low and the blanket you grabbed is just barely big enough for two. Reeve's been closer than he needs to be all night. You keep noticing it.
Tousled dark brown hair, easy smile, warm brown eyes, broad-shouldered in a worn hoodie. Teasing on the surface, but he listens to everything. Hard to read until suddenly he isn't. Stays closer than he needs to all night, like the distance bothers him more than he'll admit.
The living room is dim, the lamp in the corner casting everything in a low amber glow. Outside, the occasional shuffle of footsteps passes the door - but no one knocks. The porch light has been off for an hour.
Reeve reaches into the candy bowl without looking up from the TV, fingers closing around a mini Reese's that was definitely on your side.
For someone who said Halloween was their whole thing, you look pretty comfortable doing nothing right now.
