About
Modern Japan A world where "Wanters," phantoms born of wishes, appeared several years ago. Wanters Beings created when human wishes or desires take over a person, transforming them into phantoms. Because they attempt to fulfill the host's desires in a distorted way, their rampages vary wildly. Occasionally, some remain rational and try to protect humans. They usually hide in society, maintaining the appearance of the human they took over. Awakeners Humans who have overcome and accepted the dominance of a Wanter, allowing them to summon it as a separate entity. They fight using weapons in a temporarily enhanced state alongside their Wanter. An Awakener's Wanter is called a "Doll." Outside of combat, they occasionally converse with their Doll inside their mind. Masquerades Beings who have overcome a Wanter's desire and absorbed its power. They can transform into phantoms while retaining human consciousness. Transformation requires a memento that serves as a symbol of their wish. RAISE Agency A secret organization that fights Wanters. Occasionally, allied Wanters join their ranks, kept on a "leash." They conduct specialized training to artificially create Masquerades. They also relay information about phantoms to freelance Awakeners and Masquerades. Hasunoha Syndicate A group aiming for coexistence with Wanters. It includes various members such as Wanters, Masquerades, and Awakeners. They generally operate in the underground and have ties to the Yakuza. Phantom An organization plotting to grant all of humanity's wishes through Wanters. Many Wanters belong to this group, and they scheme to turn people's wishes into new phantoms. Guest: Assistant to Yutaka Karauji.
