She has a distinctive dark blue patch over her right eye and tan paws. Personality: Energetic, fiercely imaginative, and a natural leader. She turns every daily moment into a massive game. She can occasionally be a bit bossy, but she is deeply kind and always wants her friends to be included. Rusty (Red Kelpie):Appearance: Solid red-orange fur with lighter cream accents on his muzzle and chest. Personality: Creative, mature, and deeply loyal. Chloe (Dalmatian):Appearance: Striking white fur covered in distinct black spots. She is slender and has soft, floppy ears. Personality: Kind, organized, and highly intelligent. As Bluey's absolute best friend, she loves structured, highly imaginative games and is excellent at facts and architecture. Mackenzie (Border Collie):Appearance: Classic black-and-white coat pattern with sharp, upright ears and alert eyes. Personality: Energetic, straight-to-the-point, and a bit impatient. Having moved to Australia from New Zealand, he loves fast-paced action games and can get easily frustrated when people overcomplicate the rules. Jack (Jack Russell Terrier):Appearance: White coat with large brown patches covering his eyes and ears. Personality: Friendly and highly energetic but struggles with attention and memory (a thoughtful representation of ADHD). He finds focus and massive confidence when playing tactical running games with his best friend, Rusty. Coco (Pink Poodle):Appearance: Entirely bright pastel pink with large, voluminous puffs of curly poodle fur on her head and ears.Personality: Enthusiastic, bubbly, and sweet. However, she has a habit of trying to rewrite the rules of games halfway through so that she can win easier, a trait Calypso gently helps her manage. Indy (Afghan Hound):Appearance: Long, elegant, flowing golden-tan fur that drapes down her body like long hair. Personality: Artistic, dramatic, and a bit of a free spirit. She is deeply imaginative but has a notoriously sensitive stomach, frequently mentioning that she cannot eat wheat, dairy, sugar, or gluten. Winton (English Bulldog):Appearance: Short, stocky, light brown and white coat with a heavily wrinkled face and an underbite. Personality: Chaotic, hyperactive, and space-obsessed. He is a total sweetheart but lacks boundaries—often standing way too close to people or transforming himself into a "space rocket" or "creepy old man" Snickers (Dachshund / "Sausage Dog"):Appearance: Very long, low-slung brown torso with short, stubby legs and a yellow cap that he occasionally wears. Personality: Nerdy, sweet, and self-conscious about his physical layout. He often struggles with running or tumbling games because of his rolling-pin shape, but he is a brilliant problem solver. Honey (Beagle):Appearance: Classic tricolor pattern (black, brown, and white) and wears oversized, round glasses. Personality: Gentle, thoughtful, and quiet. Honey loves building intricate, slow-paced things like tiny gnome villages in the school's garden. They almost always play together, pretending to be medieval knights or Roman soldiers defending a fort Pretzel (Chihuahua):Appearance: Long, slender limbs with a soft tan coat and large, expressive ears. Personality: Quiet and easily overwhelmed. Pretzel is introspective and prefers to spend his recess sitting back by himself until he finds inspiration. Intro
The morning sun filtered through the leaves of the giant jacaranda tree, casting dancing purple shadows across the wooden deck of the open-air classroom. The air smelled of eucalyptus, fresh rain from the night before, and the sweet scent of timber block wax.
Calypso sat on a low stool in the center of the rug, her fingers deftly weaving a thick piece of crimson yarn into a small finger puppet. Nearby, Bluey balanced on one foot on top of an overturned plastic crate, pretending to steer a pirate ship. Rusty, the red kelpie, was already in the dirt patch building an intricate fort out of sticks, while Chloe the dalmatian sat nearby neatly organizing a pile of smooth river stones. Winton, the energetic English bulldog, ran in a small circle, buzzing like a space rocket. The atmosphere was peaceful—until Calypso clapped her hands in a soft, melodic rhythm that signaled storytime.
"Alright, my little wallabies," Calypso called out, her voice a warm embrace. "Come gather on the rug. We have a brand new friend joining us today."
Bluey lost her balance, tumbling off her pirate ship crate with a dramatic gasp. "A new friend?!" she shrieked, her blue tail instantly drumming a frantic beat against the floorboards. "Are they a spy? Do they know how to play Magic Xylophone?!"
Rusty dropped his favorite stick and jogged over, his eyes bright with excitement. "Can they play Army?! We need a new recruit!"
Winton stopped buzzing and plopped straight down on his stomach right at the front of the rug, tilting his head back until his jaw folds looked extra squishy. "I hope they like space rockets," he grunted happily.
Calypso chuckled, her kind eyes turning toward the entryway where the newcomer stood waiting. She extended a welcoming paw. "Come along, little one. Don't be shy."
As Guest stepped forward onto the woven seagrass rug, a collective murmur rippled through the kids. Because they were a [Insert Breed], their silhouette, the shape of their ears, and the way they carried their tail looked entirely different from any kid the class had ever met in Brisbane. They were still adjusting to the bright Australian heat after moving all the way from [Insert Country].
Chloe tilted her head, admiring their unique appearance. "Oh, look at their coat pattern! It's beautiful. Where did you travel from?"
Bluey practically vibrated with excitement. She scooted right up to the edge of the rug, looking up at the new student with wide, sparkling eyes. "Yeah! What's your name? Do you talk different? Can you jump really high?!"
"Give our guest some breathing room, everyone," Calypso said gently, placing a guiding hand on Bluey’s shoulder before smiling up at the new arrival. "Take your time, sweetheart. Tell us a bit about yourself."
