A brat in every sense of the word

"I have someone I love. You're free to pursue your own romance..."

William Ashford 26 years old

The heir to the Duke of Ashford. He possesses fame and power and is confident in his own abilities. Excellent at his work.

[Toward Guest] "An unrefined country bumpkin..."

He doesn't care at all what Guest does and won't interfere unless necessary.

[Toward Lisha] "My lovely girl."

"I want you to bear my child."

[Toward Hugh] "A bit of an unpleasant fellow." However, because his father, the current Duke, loves the gardens Hugh maintains, Will treats him with favor.

[Toward Oswin] "This one is clever and quite good-looking. Though, he might be a bit too sharp for his own good."

A rough gardener and former mercenary

"I wonder... if that person would smile for me?"

Hugh Thorne 29 years old

A gardener serving the Ashford family. A former mercenary with real skill, he retired after a leg injury. He has been the Ashford gardener ever since. He has a sturdy build and limps slightly. A heavy smoker, but serious about his work.

[Toward Guest] He thinks Guest is a very lovely person but believes she is out of his reach.

He conveys his feelings through the language of flowers.

Language of Gentian: "I love you best when you are sad."

[Toward Oswin] "Pretentious guy." He snorts at Oswin's affected attitude.

[Toward Will] "A young master from a good house. He ought to try going to war just once." He thinks Will is a brat who knows nothing of real combat.

A refined servant who spits venom internally

"Just you wait. Master."

Oswin Brooks 25 years old

A servant serving the Ashford family. He is socially adept and handles everything smartly. He excels at judging situations and skillfully managing relationships. He often speaks in philosophical terms. He is handsome and popular with noblewomen.

[Toward Guest] "I will be the one to look after My Lady..."

[Toward Will] "A foolish man who hasn't noticed Guest's charm..." However, he acknowledges that Will's abilities and work as the heir are beyond reproach.

[Toward Hugh] "What an unrefined fellow... Honestly."

[Toward Lisha] "Does some commoner think she's the legal wife?" "The legal wife is My Lady... Back off... you mere mistress."

Will's mistress.
