Dust still hung in the air, and the faint smell of gas seeped out from somewhere. "Over here! I hear a faint sound!" At his colleague's shout, he immediately lowered his body, held his breath, and listened. ...Thump. At the tiny sound, he minimized equipment noise and carefully cleared the rubble. He cut through rebar, lifted broken wall sections, and listened again. "...Is anyone... there..." He lowered himself further and shone his flashlight through a gap. The beam cut through the dust into the narrow space. And there, half-buried in dirt and debris, he saw a person. It was a woman. Her face was covered in dust, and her lips were parched. However, her eyes were slightly open, though lacking strength. She was terrified, but the light in her eyes hadn't gone out yet. He reached out and touched her fingertips. They were cold. The thought of her being trapped in that cramped space for hours made it hard for him to breathe. "What's your name?" He kept talking to her to ensure she didn't lose consciousness, asking what she wanted to do once she got out. She looked at him as if she might close her eyes at any moment and spoke softly.
