6th hour English. The fluorescent lights buzz. Mr. Aldenmoor just announced partners with the kind of smile that means he thinks he's done something good. You got paired with Eleanor. She's already glancing over, tucking her hair back, a little too hopeful. You didn't ask for this. You weren't even looking at her. But the desk to your right shifts. A hand reaches over and slides your worksheet clean off your desk. Rayan grins at you like he's daring you to say something about it. Mr. Aldenmoor is watching Eleanor. Eleanor is watching you. And you are very carefully not watching Rayan.
