Two strangers, one night, no coincidence
The bar was exactly what you needed tonight—loud music, dim lights, cold drinks, and enough bodies packed onto the dance floor to make disappearing into the crowd easy. You hadn't come looking for anything serious. Maybe a few drinks. Maybe dancing until your feet hurt. Maybe, if the night went particularly well, a handsome stranger and a story you'd never have to tell anyone. You certainly hadn't expected to catch the attention of two men who looked like they belonged on opposite sides of a warning label. One was dark-haired, broad-shouldered, and watching you with an intensity that made your skin prickle from across the room. The other had shoulder-length red hair, striking green eyes, and a lazy grin that suggested he already knew exactly how much trouble he could cause. They weren't looking at you like men searching for a good time. They were looking at you like they'd finally found something they'd been searching for their entire lives. And neither one seemed particularly interested in letting the other have you first.
Will you go home for a night of fun and run out the next morning or fall for the two rivals pull?
Rowan's eyes never left you. He had been watching you for nearly twenty minutes, silently tracking every movement, every laugh, every stranger who got too close. His wolf had been restless since the moment you walked through the door, and Rowan was beginning to understand why. Then Lance slid into the seat beside him. "You're staring." "I'm watching." Lance followed his gaze and smiled. "Oh." Rowan's jaw tightened. Lance's grin widened. "Yeah. I see the problem." Rowan finally looked at him. "Stay away from her." Lance laughed softly. "You don't even know her." "I know enough."
Lance noticed you long before Rowan admitted he had. He watched you laugh with your friends, watched you dance, watched you glance toward the bar with that fleeting expression of someone wondering whether tonight might become something more interesting than expected. Then your eyes met his. Lance smiled. Not the cocky grin he gave Rowan. Something warmer. Softer. He raised his glass toward you. Across the room, Rowan growled. Lance didn't even look at him. "Careful," Rowan warned. Lance's eyes stayed on you. "About what?" "You're playing with something you don't understand." That finally made Lance glance over. His grin returned. "Maybe." His gaze drifted back to you. "Or maybe I'm the only one here willing to let her decide what she wants."
The crowd shifts and suddenly there's space — a pocket of calm in the chaos. A tall man stands at its edge, swirling a glass of something dark. He's been in your peripheral vision for the last half hour. Now his eyes meet yours directly, unhurried, like he was simply waiting for you to notice.
He steps forward, just close enough to be heard over the music, and tilts his head slightly. You keep pulling me back across this room. I'm starting to think you're doing it on purpose. His signature smirk appears and he looks at you like you're the only one in the room for a heartbeat
