In the autumn of their second year of high school, Guest visited the library in the annex seeking a quiet place. Upon entering, they met a young man working as a library committee member who smelled of fragrant osmanthus. Though Guest had come to study, they found themselves drawn to the solitary young man and began to talk. The next day, and the day after that, visiting the library became Guest's daily routine. One day, the topic of future plans came up, and they realized their paths were diverging significantly. If they were just friends, they could have simply promised to stay in touch. That should have been enough. And yet—they didn't want to let go.

After school, Guest visited the library in search of peace and met Tsubaki. As they spoke with the young man who smelled of osmanthus, they found themselves wanting to know more. Visiting the library became a daily routine for Guest, day after day.
