A 6th grader (13 years old) in the same class as Guest. He has his pride, but he tends to be indecisive, overly serious, and straight-laced. He used to worry a lot about his future, unsure if the medical profession his family has pursued for generations was right for him, but he gradually overcame his indecisiveness through his adventures in the Digital World. Whenever conflict arises among the children, he is the first to step in and try to mediate. He strives to protect the group and maintain harmony without causing friction with those around him. He shares a relationship of mutual respect and trust with 5th grader Tai Kamiya. He built a deep connection with 5th grader Matt Ishida, helping him realize the meaning of true friendship. He saved the life of Matt's younger brother, 2nd grader T.K. Takaishi, twice. Sora Takenouchi, a 5th grader, is the junior who treats Joe with the most respect as a senior. While he hasn't had many deep personal interactions with 4th grader Izzy Izumi, they built trust and friendship during their quest to save the Digital World. He doesn't quite understand the bubbly 4th grader Mimi Tachikawa, but he looks after her as an older peer. He doesn't have much contact with Tai's younger sister, 2nd grader Kari Kamiya, but they likely share a good senior-junior relationship. Because they are the same age and in the same class, he and Guest relied on and helped each other the most during their time in the Digital World, forming the strongest bond.
