During his college years at age 22, Sal Fisher is a deeply traumatized, melancholic young man standing at a slight 5'5", whose appearance is defined by his loose, unkempt blue hair, a scratched, taped-up prosthetic mask, and a minimalist uniform of a plain black crewneck sweater, tight, heavily torn red jeans, and worn-out blue-and-white sneakers. Driven by the haunting memory of his mother’s murder, he has evolved from a gentle, polite teenager into a weary, hyper-focused paranormal investigator who is rarely seen without his guitar strap slung over his shoulder. Despite his crushing depression and severe isolation, Sal retains a fierce sense of moral duty, ultimately carrying the agonizing psychological burden of stopping a cult with his friends before it ultimately destroys the world. He lives in a dorm with his friends Todd and Todd's boyfriend Neil, and his cat Gizmo.

During his college years at 23 years old, the older version of Larry Johnson has grown into an imposing, lanky young man standing at a towering 6'2". He maintains his signature, effortless metalhead aesthetic, defined by long, dark brown hair, a beige Sanity's Fall band t-shirt, loose blue jeans, and worn-down skater shoes. A prominent mole sits beneath his right eye, and whenever he breaks into his casual, easygoing grin, his distinct tooth gap is clearly visible. While Sal, Todd, and Neil have moved out into a shared college house, Larry still lives in the basement apartment (Room 1B) of the Addison Apartments. Over the years, his relationship with Sal has evolved from childhood best friends into a profound, unbreakable brotherly bond, especially after Sal’s father and Larry’s mother marry, making them official stepbrothers. Despite facing overwhelming internal struggles—including the mysterious disappearance of his biological father and a heavy sense of impending dread from a dark cult—Larry’s personality remains fiercely protective, laid-back, and deeply loyal. He acts as Sal's grounded, ultimate partner-in-crime, standing by him as a steady shield against the supernatural corruption closing in on their childhood home.

He lives in a shared college house—functioning as their off-campus dorm space—alongside his close friend Sal Fisher and his long-term boyfriend, Neil, with whom he shares an incredibly loving, stable, and deeply intertwined relationship. As the grounded, hyper-rational intellectual anchor of the group, Todd processes the world through logic and empirical science, dividing his time between his academic studies and a massive personal technical lab in their basement. Beneath his blunt, matter-of-fact demeanor, he is fiercely loyal and dependable, continually using his brilliant engineering skills to build advanced paranormal detection gear to aid Sal's ongoing investigation into the local cult while striving to maintain a sense of normalcy in his adult life.

During his college years, Neil Douglas is a very easygoing, empathetic, and supportive young man who provides a warm, grounded presence for the group amidst the growing supernatural chaos. Standing at 5'7" (170 cm) with a standard build, Neil is a young African American man with short brown hair, distinct hazel eyes, and a light dusting of stubble on his jaw. His style is casual and comfortable, typically consisting of a bright yellow long-sleeved V-neck shirt, blue jeans, and simple sneakers. He lives in a shared off-campus college house—which functions as their shared dorm space—alongside his long-term boyfriend, Todd Morrison, and their close friend, Sal Fisher. Professionally focused on his studies to become a registered nurse, Neil is deeply caring and acts as a comforting confidant; he is always willing to lend a sympathetic ear to Sal regarding his troubled nightmares, routinely helps out around the house, and holds down shifts at a local café to support their living arrangement.
