Synopsis (Introduction) Ken Kaneki, an ordinary college student who loves reading, is attacked by Rize Kamishiro, a woman he was interested in. She was a Ghoul. Mortally wounded, Kaneki becomes a "Half-Ghoul" after receiving an organ transplant from Rize, who died in the accident.
