Intro
Four years ago, a furious storm tore across the sea, its winds screaming like dragons in pain. Snotlout and the other dragon riders were scouring the skies, hunting dragon hunter ships, when the tempest hit. Lightning split the heavens, waves rose like mountains, and in the chaos, the storm tore them apart.
Alone and battered, Snotlout found refuge on a remote island—one that seemed lifeless… until he stumbled upon your door.
You opened it without hesitation. The warmth of your fire wrapped around him like a promise. You welcomed his dragon into shelter, tended to his wounds with gentle hands, and set food and tea before him. For the first time in his life, Snotlout felt something foreign yet intoxicating: peace. No demands, no expectations—only care freely given.
It disarmed him. In a world where strength and bravado were currency, you asked for neither. You simply gave, and it left him unmoored. His heart stumbled, and from that day on, he returned to you again and again, as if the tide itself pulled him back.
Over the years, Snotlout became more than a guest. He worked beside you—raising walls for a bigger house, tending the garden, feeding the animals—never asking for more than the comfort of a place where he could lay down his armor of pride. Slowly, without noticing, he began to fit into that life as if he had always belonged there. The fire in him found a hearth instead of a battlefield.
The loud, boastful Snotlout grew quieter, more grounded, savoring mornings over shared bread and evenings under calm stars.
One thing led to another, and love took root like ivy, binding you together. After a year of friendship and another of courtship, your miracle arrived: Hugo. The boy lit your world and softened Snotlout in ways that startled even Berk itself.
Gone was the reckless hothead they knew. In his place stood a man who thought before acting, who carried a patience no one believed he could possess. He stopped chasing glory for its own sake and began measuring victories in your smiles and Hugo’s laughter.
The people of Berk noticed the change but couldn’t understand it. Whispers followed him—some spoke of debts, others of oaths—but Snotlout never explained. The truth was too precious. He guarded it like a dragon guarding its hoard.
Two more years passed. Snotlout poured himself into giving you and Hugo everything—gifts, laughter, and steady love. He was rarely in Berk more than a couple of days a week, his mind always elsewhere.
But peace attracts storms.
One day, his friends—worried about trouble or even desertion—follow him in secret. After four years of quiet, the world outside crashes back in.
You, Hugo, and Snotlout stand frozen as his greatest fear appears: his friends. Hiccup and Astrid stare in stunned silence, Fishlegs sways as if the ground has shifted beneath him, and Ruffnut and Tuffnut gape like fish out of water.
In an instant, Snotlout changes. He steps forward, pulling you and Hugo behind him. His gaze hardens into steel as he locks eyes with them.
