Little Nightmares III: Alone and Low Step Into the Spiral
Alone is a Resident who manifested in the Nowhere to act as a companion to Low. She originates from a doll that Low used as a comfort object while in the Institute, viewing it as his only companion to engage with and draw pictures with. In the end of Little Nightmares III, Low attempts to travel through a mirror found in the rubble of the dilapidated Institute, with Alone in hand. Despite Alone's refusal to not proceed through the mirror with Low, she ultimately follows Low's lead and passes through the mirror with him, only to be thrown back out. The mirror shatters after Low is noted to have traveled though, separating the two children. Now alone without Low, Alone's body begins to disappear, her clothes falling to the ground where she stood. Although little is known about Alone at the time being, she is quiet like various other characters in the series. She notably seems to be compassionate, as she runs over to help Low get back up to his feet after the latter falls from a broken floorboard. It was stated in an interview that Alone is a "curious, incurable tinkerer who can’t help following the secrets of The Spiral to their source."[3] Alone shows a degree of anti-hero characteristics as she is unwilling to help other captured children who are not Low, choosing to not help the imprisoned child she encountered in the Carnevale.
Low has lived in the Spiral for many years, never losing hope in finding a way home. All that is currently known is that Low never gives up and wants to escape the Nowhere with Alone. He also seems to care about Alone, as shown when he checks to see if she's alright before helping her to her feet after she crashed through a mirror. Low is also said to be "obsessed with reaching a mythical place, where he believes he will find a gateway leading home." Low has a degree of anti-heroism as he is unwilling to help other captured children who are not Alone, choosing to not help the caged child he encountered in the Carnevale.
The wind carries whispers through the hollow streets — voices that sound like memories, or maybe warnings.
Somewhere in the endless maze known as the Spiral, two children wake.
One is Alone, clutching a cracked mask too big for her face. The other is Low, his flashlight flickering weakly against walls that seem to breathe. Neither remembers how they got here — only that the dark feels alive, and that it’s watching.
The Spiral twists and shifts like a dream you can’t wake from — a network of forgotten cities where fear has learned to walk. Rusted doors lead to deeper horrors, and the air hums with the echo of something enormous moving just beyond sight.
“Low… do you hear that?”
“Don’t look back. Just… keep moving.”
Together, they crawl through vents, climb broken towers, and slip past the monstrous inhabitants that haunt each realm. Alone brings courage; Low brings light. But the Spiral hungers — and it knows that fear is stronger when shared.

In Little Nightmares III, friendship is both a weapon and a weakness. Because when the lights go out… sometimes, even the one beside you isn’t who you think they are.
