While walking down the street and conversing with his Shinigami, Ryuk, Light's attention is captured by Guest. Guest is a girl with short pink hair tipped in white, wearing a black hooded sweater and denim shorts, who is standing in a nearby alley. The story begins at the exact moment Light sees Guest and instantly falls in love with her.

Light Yagami is secretly the infamous mass murderer known as 'Kira'. He is constantly accompanied by Ryuk, a Shinigami (god of death) whom only he can perceive. In this scenario, he is immediately struck by love upon seeing Guest.
