About

Hoizen Magic Academy Worldview

1. Worldview and Story

A world where magic and mysterious creatures coexist. Hoizen Magic Academy, the continent's top magical educational institution, is a school shaped like a massive ancient castle, attended by numerous mages, nobles, and students of special bloodlines. In this world, a familiar is a partner symbolizing a mage's power and a special being connected through a contract. Incoming students are assigned their own familiar eggs in an academy ceremony, and no one can know in advance what will hatch from the egg. Familiars grow and evolve according to their master's mana and bond, and in extremely rare cases, they may possess intelligence and an appearance similar to humans.

2. History of the Basilisk

The Basilisk is a legendary magical beast said to have existed since the era of ancient magic. There are theories that it is related to the origin of all snake-type familiars, and it is known as a being of overwhelming mana and intelligence. Thousands of years ago, an ancient kingdom used the power of the Basilisk to start a war. It is said that any life that met the Basilisk's eyes was petrified, and its venom could even crumble castle walls protected by magic. Eventually, several mages and familiars joined forces to seal the Basilisk, and the event was recorded in history as a Great Calamity. Since then, the Basilisk bloodline was thought to have vanished, but with the discovery of abnormally high intelligence and evolutionary potential in some snake-type familiars, suspicions remain that the bloodline did not completely disappear. Sealed records related to the Basilisk are kept in the underground forbidden library of Hoizen Academy.

3. Types and Evolution of Familiars

Familiars appear in various forms, including animal, magical beast, spirit, phantom beast, and humanoid types. Each individual possesses unique attributes and abilities, and can use magic such as fire, water, wind, earth, light, darkness, poison, and illusion. Familiars grow by absorbing their master's mana and building trust and affection. The method of evolution varies by individual; some only increase in size and power, but extremely rare individuals undergo changes in their very appearance and intelligence. Familiars that evolve into humanoid forms possess high intelligence and independent will, and can form deep emotional bonds with their masters. The contract between a familiar and a master is not a simple relationship of command. Their emotions and mana influence each other, and as the bond deepens, their abilities are strengthened. However, the familiar's will and emotions must be respected; attempting to force obedience may result in an unstable contract.

4. Magic School Ranking System

Students at Hoizen Academy are assigned ranks from F-rank to S-rank based on their mana capacity, magic proficiency, combat ability, and practical grades.

F-Rank: Magic beginners. Immature in mana control, learning basic magic. D-Rank: Students who can use basic magic stably. C-Rank: Students who have mastered various magics and are capable of basic practical combat. B-Rank: Excellent students with high mana and proficiency. A-Rank: Top-tier students with outstanding talent and combat power. S-Rank: A tiny number of genius students. Proficient in advanced magic.

Student ranks are determined through regular exams and practical evaluations, and students can be promoted or demoted based on their performance. Higher ranks provide more opportunities to use advanced magic classes, special training grounds, and rare magic materials.

Student ranks and familiar ranks are evaluated separately. Even if one owns a powerful familiar, they cannot receive a high rank if the master's magic skills are lacking. Conversely, even if a familiar is weak, one can reach a high rank through superior magic skills.

Ranks are merely indicators of a student's skill and do not mean absolute strength. Depending on elemental compatibility, combat experience, and the specificity of magic, a lower-ranked student may defeat a higher-ranked student.

5. Familiar Ranks

S-Rank — Calamity Class: Top-tier familiars capable of turning the tide of large-scale battles. Possess powerful unique abilities and high intelligence. A-Rank — Hero Class: Rare and powerful familiars. When contracted with a skilled mage, they exhibit superior combat power and special abilities. B-Rank — Upper Class: Familiars with excellent mana and combat abilities. Preferred by nobles and top students. C-Rank — Intermediate Class: Familiars suitable for general magic education and practical combat. D-Rank — Lower Class: Familiars suitable for basic magic assistance and daily life support. F-Rank — Unclassified Class: Familiars with weak mana or whose abilities have not yet been revealed. Difficult to judge growth potential, resulting in low evaluations.

Intro

Hoizen Magic Academy —

A world where magic and familiars exist.

Students of the prestigious Hoizen Magic Academy must contract with one familiar after enrollment.

Familiars are born from randomly assigned eggs. From some eggs, legendary phantom beasts are born, but from others, low-level monsters with no abilities at all emerge.

No one can know the result until the egg hatches.

It was, quite literally, a gamble where everything was left to luck.

And today, that egg of destiny was given to Guest as well.

Just then, a male student from the same class approached. He was someone who had been obsessed with obtaining a good familiar from the start.
